Abstract

(superscript and subscript cannot be allowed.)

Implementation of the solid-state battery necessitates the mass production of solid-state electrolytes. Toward this end, we initially optimized a series of Li6–xPS5–xCl1+x (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.7) solid electrolytes through a low-cost wet chemical process using Acetonitrile as a solvent. Among the prepared compositions, Li5.5PS4.5Cl1.5 composition demonstrates a high ionic conductivity of 8.78 mS cm−1, which is approximately two times higher than that of Li6PS5Cl (4.28 mA cm−1). Noticeably, when the product quantity is increased 5-fold, there is no change in the X-ray diffraction and ionic conductivity values. Moreover, compared to Li6PS5Cl (0.2 mA cm−2), the optimized composition exhibits a high critical current density of 0.8 m cm−2, due to its high ionic conductivity and low electronic conducting nature. The assembled solid-state battery using Li5.5PS4.5Cl1.5 cell demonstrates a high initial discharge capacity of 172 mAh⋅g−1 at 0.1C rate, and good capacity retention of 76 % after 100 cycles, compared to Li6PS5Cl (163 mAh⋅g−1, 69 %).
